Meet Jazmine C. Hunter, LCSW
“Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life, because you become what you believe.” – Oprah Winfrey
Jazmine C. Hunter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Mental Health expert at Next Steps Professional Counseling Services, LLC based in Fort Worth, Texas. She received a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from Prairie View A&M University and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Hunter started to embark on a career in therapy in 2020 due to the stigmas within the Black community that are oftentimes associated with mental illness. While Hunter experienced therapy as she was growing up, she noticed the lack of therapists that looked like her or could relate to her childhood trauma, background and story. Her belief and desire for others to see more African-American therapists that can ultimately help normalize seeking mental health support sparked her interest to be a part of cultivating that change.
Are you or someone you know struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, substance abuse, or trauma? Find yourself lacking motivation? You can start your journey towards healing by contacting me. We will work together to get you back on track. There is no one way street when dealing with mental health. My methods of therapy vary based on clients need. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and solution focused therapy approach to not only understand your own behavioral responses, but also manage emotions and, build positive coping mechanisms.
Throughout my career I have combated the common and uncommon misconceptions of mental illness by providing community-based mental health services for individuals and families despite race, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status. I provide an inclusive, client-centered, supportive and safe space where people can truly thrive.
Clients are able to identify and use their strengths to jumpstart positive change in their lives. In addition, I provide a safe space for clients to challenge their thoughts and the negative behaviors that often cause mental instability.— without judgement or shame. I am available to work with preteens, teens and adults facing various challenges.
