About the Zoo

Founded in 1909 with one lion, two bear cubs and an alligator, Fort Worth Zoo has become a nationally ranked facility that welcomes more than 1 million visitors each year. Its success is rooted in three cornerstones: conservation, education and entertainment.

Since taking over the zoo in 1991, the Fort Worth Zoological Association has raised more than $186 million from private entities, foundations and corporations to improve the animal habitats and expand the zoo’s guest experience. This has helped the zoo grow and thrive with new habitats, improvements to walkways, restaurants and picnic areas, and handicap accessibility. Kimbell Art Museum Information
